Prof. Goolam Mohamedbhai
Education: PhD. Civil Engineering (University of Manchester); BE. Civil Engineering (University of Manchester);
Prof. Mohamedbhai did his postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley and then joined the University of Mauritius in 1972 as Lecturer and climbed the academic and administrative echelons to eventually become its Vice-Chancellor from 1995 to 2005. He was Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities from 2008 to 2010 and served as President of the International Association of Universities from 2004-2008. He has been Chairman of several other university associations and is the recipient of several awards for his contribution to higher education in Mauritius, the Commonwealth and Africa. He currently operates as an independent higher education consultant with special interest in Africa.
