Standing amidst the rapid evolution of higher education, Vice Chancellors know that their role demands more than just managing sprawling institutions. With the surge of technology, emerging competition, and the need for dynamic academia-industry partnerships, the expectations from university leaders are at an all-time high.
The Leadership and Management Training under the ACE II Project, organized by IUCEA and the World Bank, aims to equip heads of institutions with the skills and vision to tackle contemporary challenges head-on.
The training will bring together 17 Vice Chancellors and 29 Center Leaders, creating a vibrant mix of experience, insight, and ambition. Over six intensive days in Nairobi, participants will dive into a thoughtfully structured program spanning critical themes like governance, strategic planning, leadership innovation, and academia-private sector collaboration.
Guided by seasoned leaders, real-life case studies and focused discussions will transform theoretical frameworks into actionable strategies. Sessions on resource mobilization and navigating technological disruption will inspire new approaches to overcoming institutional obstacles.
The training will deliver more than knowledge; it will forge connections and scale up regional collaboration. A support network of peers and mentors will emerge and establish collaboration and accountability. The Vice Chancellor will return home with renewed clarity, ready to lead their institutions toward innovation, adaptability, and excellence.
The ACE II Project is an initiative of the World Bank and participating governments to strengthen postgraduate training and research capacity in the regional priority areas of industry, agriculture, health, education and applied statistics in selected universities across eight eastern and southern African countries.
