The Center of Excellence in Agri-Food Systems and Nutrition (CE-AFSN) at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) participated at the 60th Maputo International Fair (FACIM), showcasing its vital work in food security, agricultural innovation, and sustainable development. The fair is a major event for business and innovation.
CE-AFSN team presented their initiatives to the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo. The President, accompanied by the Minister of Education and Human Development, Dr. Samaria Tovela, and other high-ranking officials, learned about the center’s strategic role in strengthening the nation’s agri-food systems and developing innovative solutions to nutritional challenges.
CE-AFSN used the high-profile platform to connect with a wide audience. The center highlighted its applied research projects aimed at improving food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across Mozambique. Presentations emphasized the center’s contribution to training specialized professionals and its role in translating academic research into practical, tangible outputs.
The participation of CE-AFSN at FACIM underscores UEM’s commitment to bridging the gap between science, public policy, and the community. The CE-AFSN attracted considerable attention, drawing hundreds of visitors, including students and institutional partners, and opened opportunities for collaboration.
