Call for Applications for Scholarships for Doctoral Studies at Eduardo Mondlane University
(2nd Edition)
Within the scope of promoting University Excellence by supporting teaching in Postgraduate Courses in Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology, and related areas, the Center of Studies in Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology (CS-OGET) announces that the call for the 2nd Edition of the Scholarships for Doctoral Studies is open for students who intend to pursue research in Science and Technology of Energy at the Eduardo Mondlane University.
PERIOD COVERED BY THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarships will cover a maximum period of four (4) years from the date of approval of the results of the call. Their renewal, at the end of the first year since their award, is guaranteed upon presentation of satisfactory academic progress, supported by the declaration of completed subjects or research report.
AVAILABILITY OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND TYPE
- For the 2nd Edition, four (4) full scholarships for regional (African region) students are
- The Full Scholarship comprises the following benefits:
- Travel expenses to Mozambique and return at the end of the program;
- Tuitions Fees;
- Accommodation;
- Monthly allowance;
- Research support;
- Doctoral thesis fees; and
- Fieldwork
BENEFICIARIES
Students accepted in the Doctoral Program in Science and Technology of Energy at Eduardo Mondlane University whose intended research topics are in areas of knowledge of science and technology focused on the value chain of the energy extractive industry (hydrocarbons and minerals), energy transition, clean and renewable energy, and other related areas.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
- Letter of acceptance in the Postgraduate Program (this can be done later);
- Demonstrate a genuine need for financial support to pursue the studies;
- Not be a beneficiary of any other form of Scholarship;
- Be available to provide, during the studies period, services to CS-OGET or the Faculty of Science, where the Doctoral program is run;
- Average of the Master’s course equal to or greater than 14 (on the scale in use at the UEM or equivalent (0 – 20);
- Exceptionally, candidates with an average of not less than 12 may benefit from the scholarship, provided they have at least 3 years of professional experience in an area considered relevant for the Doctoral Program indicated
PROCEDURES FOR THE APPLICATION
The application is made by submitting the following documents:
- Letter of request for a scholarship addressed to the Director of CS-OGET, accompanied by all supporting documents deemed relevant to support the application;
- Certified photocopy of the Diploma and/or Certificate of Completion of the Master’s Degree or equivalent;
- Certified photocopy of the Certificate of Subjects taken during the Master’s Degree;
- Certified photocopy of the passport;
- Curriculum vitae;
- Two letters of recommendation;
- Research draft; and
- Letter of acceptance (this can be submitted later) in the Doctoral
BENEFICIARIES SELECTION CRITERIA
- The selection will be made on a competitive basis, mainly taking into account the limited number of scholarships to be awarded;
- The criteria for evaluation will be fundamentally based on the evaluation of the academic record at Master’s level or equivalent, on the relevance of the research topic to be developed and on the financial condition presented by the

DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION
The application must be delivered to the CS-OGET secretariat, located in the Postgraduate building of the Faculty of Engineering at UEM, during office hours between 1st and 31th October, 2024. Alternatively, they can be sent electronically through the email addresses provided below. It should be noted that this process is independent of the application to attend the Doctoral Program, which must be done in accordance with the deadlines in force in the Doctoral Program (it will be announced timely to the candidates).
