IUCEA Celebrates 50 Years (1970 – 2020)
The event marks its evolution journey from the then Inter-University Committee (IUC) which mainly focused on academic cooperation between universities that were descendants of the colleges of the University of East Africa to the current Inter-University Council for East Africa, a strategic institution of the East African Community (EAC) responsible for strategic development of higher education for human resource development and research.
IUCEA hosted three webinars in August and September 2020 in commemoration of this milestone
- Webinar 1 on Research and Innovation: An account of 50 years of Higher Education Development in the EAC.
- Webinar 2 on Higher Education and Community Engagement: Policy and Practice in East Africa held on August 28, 2020.
- Webinar 3 on Reshaping Higher Education in East Africa: Global trends and reflections from EAC’s Agenda 2050 held on September 23, 2020.
