Eduardo Mondlana University (UEM) Rector, Prof. Dr. Manuel Guilherme Júnior, inaugurated on Thursday July 25,2025, the new facilities of the Regional Center of Excellence in Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology Studies (CS-OGET), a modern space designed to promote research and train specialists who will shape the future of the sector.
The building, which previously housed the Academic Registry, was completely renovated thanks to funding from the World Bank. It is now adapted to the demands of a Center focused on knowledge production and the training of highly qualified professionals in the oil and gas field.
According to the Rector, this infrastructural leap will allow CS-OGET to respond more robustly to the growing demand for its courses and training. “By improving conditions, we ensure greater sustainability, from an infrastructure and capacity perspective,” he stated, also highlighting the Center’s strategic partnerships with large companies operating in the central and northern regions of the country – alliances that have been vital for advanced training, especially at the graduate level.
The Director of CS-OGET, Professor Luís Lucas, emphasized that the new facilities will serve primarily for administrative activities, maintaining the academic aspect at the Faculty of Engineering.
“To the colleagues who will work here, I leave the challenge: to contribute to ensuring that we continue to be a great Center of excellence,” he urged.
The ceremony also included the presentation of a new addition to the Center’s fleet, a vehicle acquired to improve the working conditions of the technical team.
